Getting to Tirana

You can access Tirana with a flying machine or rolling box, Tirana international airport receives flights from many European and international capitals. As for arrival by bus, you can reach Tirana from the south from Athens or from the north crossing the border at two crossings on the Montenegro border, or border crossings from Serbia or Macedonia.

Once inside Albania you can take a mini van or bus from almost all cities to Tirana, just negotiate with the driver on price prior to getting in. Although Albanians are some of the nicest, most helpful people in the world which is one of the attractions of this developing nation, taxi drivers are still taxi drivers and will try to make a buck off you when they can. Maybe it is all the petrol fumes?

Getting to Loreni Hostel

Get yourself to Skenderbeg Square, Tirana’s main square and town epicenter, if you are coming from the main bus and train station walk down Boulevardi Deshmoret e Kombit until you reach Skenderbeg Square.

From Skenderbeg Square, follow the street the horse and rider are facing and head between the brilliant mosaic fronted National History Museum (on left) and the Tirana International Hotel. (on right, probably Tirana’s tallest building) Keep to the right side of the street and take the first right at the back of the Tirana International Hotel where the small electricity sub-station is. Follow this thin road past Hotel Bar Restorant Nobel, turning left at the end where the brand new apartment building is. This is Bardhok Biba Street.

Follow this 200m up the road until you see the sign for Freddy’s Hostel at number 75. Freddy is our friend and will sort you out immediately.
